Judith W. Ross

With 30 years of experience, first as an associate, and then as a shareholder in the law firm of Thompson and Knight L.L.P, and more recently, as a partner in the law firm of Baker Botts L.L.P., Ms. Ross brings a depth of knowledge to all aspects of corporate practice, restructuring, bankruptcy, and mediation; and provides superb representation for corporate debtors, major creditors, banks, hedge funds, committees, and trustees.

Ms. Ross currently serves as Co-Chair of the Chapter 11 Subcommittee of the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association.

Mediation brings all parties and their legal representatives together in an attempt to reach an agreeable resolution without incurring the cost and expense of litigation.  Mediation agreements are legally binding and can substantially reduce the litigation costs for all parties involved in a bankruptcy case.

With a long and distinguished career handling hundreds of business bankruptcy disputes, Judith Ross and Neil Orleans have acquired a thorough understanding of almost every major industry including: energy, technology, real estate, manufacturing, mining, franchising, transportation, and others. Accordingly, they can mediate a variety of complex business disputes, whether or not bankruptcy issues are implicated, and will stay with the parties as long as it takes to resolve their dispute.

Ms. Ross believes it is the mediator’s job to study and understand the merits of the underlying dispute.  She is not a mediator who merely acts as a messenger service for the parties. With 30 years of experience in resolving complex disputes, Ms. Ross believes she has the ability, due to her energy and focus, to quickly ascertain the merits of a dispute and help drive parties to a productive and mutually beneficial resolution.
