Divorce mediation California: recent analysis of the assets involved in the breakup of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, film star and former governor of the state, has revealed that this divorce could be one of the most costly on record.  The two are considered a "power couple" and have a combined net worth of an estimated $200 million, though that figure may actually be as high as $400 million.

Divorce Mediation California: The Cause of the Split

At issue is Schwarzenegger's admission that he fathered a child with another woman while he was married to Shriver.  The other woman was the couple's maid and lived in their own home.  Initial news reports indicate that the couple signed a prenuptial agreement, but since 25 years have passed and Schwarzenegger was reportedly unfaithful, legal experts have doubts that the prenuptial agreement will be ruled valid and enforceable.

In the absence of a valid prenuptial agreement, California law specifies that a divorcing couple will split all their assets evenly.  Shriver has engaged a top divorce lawyer who practices in Hollywood and has experience with celebrity, big-dollar divorces cases, Laura Wasser.  At this time, however, no official plans to divorce have been formally announced.  According to some sources, the couple plans to enter into mediation, in order to stay away from the media limelight as much as possible.
