More Advantages Than Divorce Mediation Costs

Monday, August, 8, 2011

Divorce mediation costs are one reason to stay out of court during the dissolution of a marriage, but they are far from the only reason to opt for an alternative to traditional divorce procedures.  "Good divorce," characterized by conciliation and mediation spearheaded by skilled mediation attorneys, is quickly becoming a trend in the United States.

Besides low cost, one of the primary additional benefits to divorce mediation is its ability to resolve financial and custodial issues without the acrimony that so often features as part and parcel of court-based divorce.

Divorce Mediation Costs Families Less Stress

Merry Nasser, an attorney who has specialized in family law for more than 30 years, understands the devastation that a contentious divorce can wreak on family relationships.  Parents will no longer be married to one another after a mediation divorce, but they will still need to cooperate to make child-raising decisions.  And children, of course, will still need healthy relationships with both their parents if there is to be as little stress as possible in their lives post-divorce.

"I think lawyers are a lot more conscious of the emotional impact on families in the process," commented Nasser when speaking of the need for more divorce mediation.  "In the last few years I've moved out of advocacy and litigation.  I can no longer participate in the destruction."

Education mediation is another area in which mediation attorney advocate for the interests of children.
