New Conflict Center Provides Divorce Mediation in Tampa, Prevents “Dumb Fights”

Tuesday, August, 21, 2012

The Tampa Family Conflict Center opened up in Temple Terrace early in August. The center, run by a former social worker, will handle divorce mediation and other forms of family mediation. The Center was founded in large part due to what its founder calls "Dumb Fights".

What's the Difference Between a Dumb Fight and a Smart Fight?

Rhonda Audia, founder of the Family Conflict Center, claims that she has seen hundreds of couples "have the same fight over and over again" during her two-and-a-half decades as a counselor.

She says that conflict is actually a necessity for a healthy and authentic relationship. But all too often, couples fight over seemingly small things because they don't know how to talk to each other about larger underlying issues.

These small-fights-about-big-issues are what Audia calls Dumb Fights--and she has coined herself "The Dumb Fight Specialist" in her media announcements.

Civil Mediation—When Conflict Is Not a Problem

"Conflict is not a problem," says Audia. "It is an opportunity to understand each other and make the relationship emotionally safe." Audia sees making a safe space via mediation as a big part of her job when it comes to helping couples.

Unfortunately, half of all marriages end in divorce--even in Florida. That's one reason the Family Conflict Center (located in Temple Terrace in the Tampa area) offers divorce mediation, family mediation, and other conflict-resolution services.

Free Mediation Services? Almost -

Almost While the Tampa Family Conflict Center doesn't provide divorce mediation services free of cost, Audia does give free 15-minute consultations.

“If you are tired of the same old arguments, the constant blaming, and the feeling of being alone in your relationship, you are stuck,” said Audia. “But you can get unstuck at the Tampa Family Conflict Center.”
