Al began his practice in Jackson, Mississippi in 1965. He also taught at the Jackson School of Law and lectured at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In 1970, he opened his firm's Gulf Coast office while representing clients throughout  the state of  Mississippi.  In 1977, he opened his own firm that grew to eighteen lawyers. He has represented insurance companies, labor unions, plaintiffs and individuals in every phase of civil litigation and handled criminal matters. He was senior counsel and managing partner in over 60,000 cases in five states in asbestos, silica, vibration and hearing loss cases which included multi-state litigation filed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania  and Galveston, Texas.  Al also was joint counsel in one ofthe largest plaintiff verdicts in the State of Mississippi. He has represented parties in trials and administrative matters in Mississippi's state and federal courts and agencies. He has given lectures, published papers, and taught seminars to  businesses, employees, professionals, students, attorneys, judges, and lay persons on labor matters, administrative matters, trial practice, longshore litigation, appellate practices, employment law as well as insurance contracts, claim processing, bad faith, ethics, litigation and personal injury.

Al has been involved in mediation most of his practice. He has been certified as a mediator and now enjoys senior status. He has been an AV rated attorney for nearly forty years and listed in the Bar Register of AV Preeminent Lawyers and America's Most Honored Professionals.

He is a retired Major General in the Mississippi National Guard where he served as Staff Judge Advocate for twenty-three years, Assistant Adjutant General for the State of Mississippi for four years and Chief Judge of the Court of Military Appeals for thirteen years.

Al's education includes the following:

Delta State College, Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and English; University of Mississippi School of Law, Juris Doctor;

Mississippi College School of Law, Honorary Master of Laws; William Carey College, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies;

New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Master ofTheological Studies; and Graduate of the Reserve Component General Staff Course of the United States Army.

Al has appeared before the Mississippi Supreme Court in fifty-two reported cases and has represented clients in thousands of cases in the Federal Courts in several states.

Al is a member of the Mississippi Bar, Harrison County Bar, Lamar Order, Bar Association of the Fifth Circuit, Mississippi Bar Foundation, Omicron Delta Kappa, Pi Gamma Mu and Pi Kappa Delta Honor Societies, the Association of the United States Army, the National Guard Association of the United States and is a charter member of Top American Lawyers.
