Angela Jackson is a shareholder and chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Group.  She currently serves on the Institute of Continuing Legal Education Labor & Employment Law Advisory Board.


Ms. Jackson has been  with the firm since graduating from the University of Michigan law school in 1995. She has successfully tried cases to jury verdict in several state and federal courts on matters ranging from employment discrimination, to admiralty to the Uniform Commercial Code. She has also successfully arbitrated a wide variety of employment benefit disputes.


Some of her recent experience includes:


Summary Judgment on behalf of the employer in a pregnancy discrimination and FMLA interference case in the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan (2012) affirmed by the Sixth Circuit on appeal (2013)


Injunction on behalf of Employer for violation of a Covenant not to Compete (2012)


Summary Disposition on behalf of the employer in a multi-plaintiff whistle blower lawsuit in the Washtenaw County Circuit Court, affirmed by the Michigan Court of Appeals (2011)


Injunction defeated on behalf of the corporation in minority shareholder oppression action (2011)


Favorable settlement on behalf of the employer in an ADA lawsuit while hearing on a motion for summary judgment was pending (2011)


Settlement of $2,200,000 on behalf of a client after three days of trial in a commercial lease dispute (2011)


Jury verdict in the amount of $11,900,000.00 for a client in a legal malpractice action (2005)


Ms. Jackson’s practice can be broadly described as business litigation with a special emphasis on employment law and litigation matters such as discrimination and retaliation, sexual harassment, whistle blower, trade secrets and non-compete agreements. She advises both corporate and individual clients regarding employment matters. Ms. Jackson also frequently litigates construction, and contractual disputes.


Ms. Jackson received the designation “Top Rated Lawyer” in the area of Labor & Employment Law by American Lawyer.  She has been included in Best Lawyers in America in the area of Business Litigation, is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named to Michigan Super Lawyers for the last eight consecutive years.
