Mr. Gregory (Greg) Byron Wood is an experienced legal practitioner specializing intellectual property (IP) matters. He offers 44 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, electronic information management and e-discovery matters, and licensing and business negotiations related to intellectual property. He has participated in approximately 250 mediations and 100 arbitrations and has served as an arbitrator (sole, panel member, and panel chair). His expertise includes patent law, trademark infringement and anti-counterfeiting, copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, misappropriation of publicity rights, intellectual property agreement enforcement and litigation, domain name disputes, IP related commercial litigation, business negotiations, licensing, and transactional matters related to IP rights.

As a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., in Los Angeles, California from 2002 to 2010, Mr. Wood focused his practice on alternative dispute resolution counseling and strategies and served as a mediator, arbitrator, and a registered patent attorney in areas involving technology and telecommunications, medical devices, electronics, computer hardware, software, and services, energy and utilities, consumer products, leisure and entertainment, and publishing and media matters.  He continues to be increasingly active in mediation and arbitration as an advocate representing numerous clients for the ADR as a neutral serving as sole arbitrator, panel member and panel chair. He also serves as a mediator in a wide variety of litigated matters ranging from personal injury, to commercial disputes, to complex intellectual property disputes.

In his early career, Mr. Wood was an Associate in patent prosecution and litigation and trademark litigation at two law firms and served as Managing Partner in one law firm where he honed managerial skills that are essential to moving the ADR process forward. Early in his career, he earned a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering and an M.S. in Control Systems Engineering from UCLA and worked in the aerospace industry for Hughes Aircraft. While working for Hughes, he transitioned to patent prosecution on highly technical complex computer systems and went on to earn a J.D. degree with honors from La Verne College of Law.

Devoted to continuous professional development, he participated in more than a dozen training certification courses in dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation, and negotiation at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. U.S. News and World Report: Guide to Graduate Schools ranked the Straus Institute as the #1 school for dispute resolution in the nation for six consecutive years. The Strauss Institute is a recognized leader in mediation worldwide and an innovator in conflict resolution techniques.

With a foundation of technical training, intellectual property litigation, as lead counsel in over 15 jury trials,executive management oversight, pro bono and for pay ADR engagements, and extensive professional development from one of the world's top notch post graduate universities, Mr. Wood possess a repertoire of skills that enables him to lead alternative dispute resolutions involving intellectual property in a timely fashion, with objectivity, attention to detail, sensitivity to disparate positions, and a central focus on resolving disputes in ways acceptable to all parties.

Recognizing the exponential increase in electronic information and related litigation costs, Wood IP Resolution also advises clients in business negotiations and transactional matters, electronic discovery, and licensing and contract matters with a view toward avoiding disputes when possible and minimizing the escalation of disputes through early intervention when disputes do arise.

His primary focus is arbitration.  A secondary focus is mediation.  His third (and smaller) focus is legal practice in IP, start-ups, contracts

Greg is currently on the ADR panels of the  AAA, ICDR, USDC ADR, CCB panel (Calif. Dep. Of Insurance); ACMAS panel (LA County Bar). and has arbitrated a number of cases exceeding $1M and at least one exceeding $50M.
