Suzanne M. Remington
As the President and Founding member of Remington & Associate, Suzanne brings over 20 years of experience practicing exclusively in the area of family law. Suzanne focuses her practice on the complex financial issues in divorce including cash flow analysis relating to spousal maintenance and child support, the division of businesses, retirement, executive compensation, and other assets. Suzanne also assists clients with contested custody issues.
“Even at its most technical, family law never veers far from its intensely personal core,” says Suzanne. “At the same time I’m focusing on complicated tax and liquidity issues or honing my knowledge of case law, I’m equally focused on doing everything possible to alleviate the profound stress my clients are experiencing. It’s not a skill one learns in law school, but it’s absolutely integral to being a true client advocate.”
Over the last two decades, Suzanne has appeared before the Minnesota Supreme Court and many times before the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She has also tried numerous cases before district court judges in the metro and surrounding areas, and is a frequent presenter and trainer on topics such as financial early neutral evaluation, the new child support statutes, and effective marital dissolution practices. In addition, she completed certified civil mediation training and is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114.
Steve retired from his family law practice in Rochester, Minnesota, after more than 40 years of practice. During those years, he served as a guardian ad litem for both children and adults and was also a part-time administrative law judge, presiding over child support proceedings.
Steve represented family law clients in numerous cases in mediation proceedings and also served as a mediator himself over the years, primarily in the Rochester area. He is motivated to find solutions to conflict, recognizing that each case is unique and presents its own particular opportunities for resolution. After retiring from his family law practice in 2014, Steve has continued to provide mediation and arbitration services to attorneys and their clients. He will continue to offer those services with Remington & Associate. He will also be assisting Suzanne with drafting pleadings and addressing clients’ legal issues.
Steve and his wife, Mary Ann, love dogs as evidenced by the several living with them and being with family, which was a large factor in their decision to relocate to Minneapolis.
