Jeff Veal brings over 30 years of intellectual property law experience to you at Veal Intellectual Property.
A graduate of Auburn University, with a degree in Physics, and of the University of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Veal has practiced intellectual property law in two large civil general practice law firms as well as boutique law firms. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Veal served seven years in the United States Navy. At various times during his tenure with the general practice firms, Mr. Veal was the head of the Intellectual Law Department of each of the firms. For most of 1984 until 2000, he was the senior partner of his own intellectual property boutique supervising a number of attorneys all engaged in the IP practice. Veal Intellectual Property, LLC is Mr. Veal’s return to the boutique law firm.
During his private practice, Mr. Veal has counseled thousands of clients regarding patents, trademarks and copyrights. The subject matter of these client’s inventions range from fishing lures to flying machines, from railroad maintenance equipment to internet security systems, and from cotton gins to medical devices. As a registered patent attorney, He has secured hundreds of patents on a wide variety of technological improvements. Likewise, the breadth of his trademark practice has encompassed clients from almost every commercial endeavor.
In addition to counseling clients and securing their intellectual property through the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Veal has had an active litigation practice including the litigation of patent matters, trademark matters and copyright matters. Mr. Veal has handled litigation matters in the United States District Courts in various states as well as the United States appellate courts. His litigation practice has led him to a strong conviction that mediation is most often in the client’s best interest and the integration of mediation into his practice.
