Experience

Since joining CADRES in 2015, as a private practitioner, I have:

            Mediated over 250 hours, well-mixed between Small Claims and Forced Entry and Detainer (FED);
            Mediated Family Matters

In the last few years of Opportunity Alliance’s Family & Community Mediation service (2016-2018), I co-mediated more than a dozen cases (36 hours). I have been in private mediation practice since 2015 and have well over 150 hours mediating disputes ranging across the community spectrum, and am a Mediator for the Maine Human Rights Commission

AGRICULTURAL MEDIATION: Experience & Training - over a decade & half experience working with U.S. Department of Agriculture: e.g., Farm & Ranch Land Protection Program. Currently on the Agricultural Mediator Roster at Maine Family & Community Mediation.  Regularly participate in Coalition of Agricultural Mediation Programs.

ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIATION: I graduated from The Law School at the University of Pennsylvania.  PennLaw is an awesome Ivy League Law School.  At PennLaw, I focused on Environmental Law & Environmental Justice (examining how environment law impacts & is applied to individual & communities of people of color or economic poor).

EEOC/EMPLOYMENT MEDIATION:  I am familiar with and have mediated cases involving EEOC law, regs, policy & guidelines.  Among familiarizing experiences: private mediations involving issues of race, gender identity, sexual orientation for my Diversity, Equity & Inclusion consultancy clients. Also mediated same sex partnerships & marriages; matters involving transgender & gender fluid parties.

TITLE IX MEDIATION: (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 & other FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS LAW.  From my early post-undergraduate professional days as a college admission officer (in the early 1980s), I recruited people of color, and other diversity candidates.  Among many periods of direct familiarity and experience in matters of civil rights law: While paralegal in Los Angeles, I volunteered working with homeless for 6 years, and in law school I taught “Street Law” at inner city high school in Philly.

Training

From MWI in Boston, I received:

          40-hour Transformative & Facilitative Mediation Training (October 2014)
          24-hour Divorce Mediation Training (October 2016)

During COVID-19 Pandemic, I completed:

        15-hour Maine Association of Mediators Family Law Mediation Training (June 2020)
        2-1/2 hour Learn to Mediate Online Training Program (March 2020)

Opportunity Alliance's:

Domestic Violence Training (December 2016)

Since 2015, I have maintained my eligibility for CADRES FED and Small Claims rosters, as well as, the Family Matters roster which I joined in 2017, meeting and generally exceeding my annual continuing education requirements.

Now seasoned as a formal, professional mediator, I have for most of my life, survived and thrived in the role of third party neutral, or its sibling – a bridge.  I am confident that my experience and skill, my tested and proven core competencies, my unique frame for third party neutral empathy and comfort in and familiarity with high-conflict situations would yield success for me as your neutral.
