Thomas F, Mink II (Tom) was born in Lawrenceburg on October 25,1951. He attended Austin Peay State University and obtained his B.A. degree before attending The Nashville School Law. While in Law School he clerked full time for the Law Firm of Parker, Nichol & Finley from 1975 to1978, spending much time in various court rooms with his mentor R.B. Parker, Jr. During his last year in Law School he obtained special permission from the Tennessee Supreme Court to conduct limited practice representing indigent individuals. Tom Mink obtained a J.D. degree in 1978 and was licensed to practice law in October 1978. He tried his first solo jury trial in January 1979 successfully obtaining a defendant’s verdict.
For almost 38 years, Thomas F. Mink, II, has been actively engaged in the practice of law, primarily in civil litigation. Tom has been “AV” rated by Martindale & Hubbell for over 25 years. He has handled hundreds of cases and tried well over 150 trials in Circuit, Chancery, Criminal and Federal Courts throughout Tennessee and in some states which border Tennessee. Many of these cases involved jury trials. As a young lawyer, for approximately nine (9) years, Tom Mink tried criminal cases as well as civil cases in the State and Federal Courts of Tennessee. Through his extensive experience he knows all cases, big or small, are important.
Tom Mink has argued in the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court. Since 1986, his trial practice has been exclusively in the civil arena. He has handled adversarial matters in 49 of the 95 counties of Tennessee and has tried jury trials in 21 of those counties. Tom Mink is licensed to practice in all state courts in Tennessee as well as the U.S. District Courts for The Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of Tennessee. He is admitted to practice before the Sixth Circuit United States Court of Appeals. Tom is a Rule 31listed Civil Mediator and a Rule 31 listed Domestic Relations mediator.
Tom’s extensive experience in civil litigation representing both plaintiffs and defendants, and representing husbands and wives in domestic cases makes him keenly aware of the value of mediation.
Tom Mink has engaged in scores of mediations as counsel to litigants and he has gained invaluable insight based upon his mediation experience with both plaintiffs and defendants. He knows the feeling that litigants have while involved in the mediation experience. He has seen various successful, as well as very disastrous results from mediation related to decisions made by litigants. He knows firsthand about the expense, delay, frustration and anxiety involved in litigation. This can, in most cases, be avoided by the ADR process.
