Mr. Fegert joined the Florida Bar in 1990, after having practiced in Louisiana and California since 1984.  He concentrated in the areas of medial malpractice, maritime law and admiralty, and personal injury and death with the law firm of Moss, Henderson, Blanton, Lanier, Kretschmer & Murphy, P.A., and its predecessors. He is presently a founding member in GARRIS & FEGERT, LLP.

Mr. Fegert was certified in Civil Mediation by the Supreme Court of Florida in 2005.  Previously, he had been court appointed on an ad hoc basis as mediator in maritime litigation.  Additionally, Mr. Fegert was an approved maritime arbitrator by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Healthcare law and Medical malpractice work has been in service of a variety of interests.  Cases often involve multiple defendants, including institutional parties such as hospitals, multi-specialty groups and/or out-patient facilities, physician practice groups, surgical hardware and prosthetic device manufacturers, and other health care industry participants.

In admiralty and maritime, cases have involved ship owners, pilots, charterers, underwriters, passenger ships, cargo and seamen in matters concerning marine insurance, contracts, vessel transfers, maritime liens, collisions, damage to cargo, towage, salvage, personal injury and death matters.  Mr. Fegert has been a guest lecturer in admiralty and maritime law at the University of San Francisco Law School.  He was a founding advisor of the University of San Francisco Maritime Law Journal, and served as a member of the Board of Advisors for ten years.  Mr. Fegert became a  Proctor in Admiralty Member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States in 1991 and serve on its Recreational Boating Committee for several years.  He has served as Chairman of the Admiralty Substantive Law Committee of the Florida Bar, Chairman to the Admiralty and Maritime Certification Committee of the Florida Bar, and Vice-chairman of the American Bar Association, Torts Insurance Practice section Admiralty Law Committee.  Mr. Fegert has published two continuing legal education articles on admiralty and maritime law for the Florida Bar.
