River Bridge Resolutions, LLC, was founded in 2012 by Andrew Marchant-Shapiro to be something more than a law firm. Rooted in the idea that mediation is a superior way to resolve disputes, River Bridge Resolutions aims to create durable agreements to end conflicts.

Andrew is an attorney licensed to appear before Connecticut and federal courts, as well as a trained facilitative mediator.  He holds degrees in sociology from the University  of Minnesota (BA, summa) and the University of Chicago (MA), and earned his JD from the Quinnipiac University School of Law.  He serves as co-chair of the LGBTQ committee of the New Haven County Bar Association and as treasurer of the Connecticut Mediation Association.  He has taught at universities in Illinois, New York, and Connecticut.

Between graduate school and law school, Andrew worked as a software engineer while he and his spouse (a professor of political science) raised their four children.  In his spare time he reads a wide range of history and fiction, plays bluegrass, folk, and electric guitar, and rides his bike.  Weekends will often find him working at one of Connecticut’s oldest and busiest food pantries, Loaves & Fishes, in New Haven’s Wooster Square.

Andrew has mediated family, neighbor, and business disputes, and has tried matters ranging from personal injury to prisoner’s civil rights.  He stands ready to help you tell your story.

River Bridge Resolutions, LLC, seeks to help people explain their side in disputes, and to help them listen to the other side, in the interest of helping parties in conflict to reach mutually-satisfying, relationship-preserving solutions—without litigation.

Not all disputes can be mediated, but  many can be.  For these disputes, mediation is generally faster, less costly and more satisfying to the parties than other methods (such as litigation or arbitration).  Conflict coaching is also available for those disputes where one party refuses to mediate a dispute.

To find out if your dispute is a candidate for mediation, or just to find out more about River Bridge and mediation in general, contact us to set up a consultation.  We welcome questions as well.
