Andrew R. Wolf has devoted his practice, with a special emphasis on class action cases, to protecting the rights of hard-working people who have been the victims of consumer fraud or other practices which violate consumer law.

Mr. Wolf has been certified as Class Counsel in more than eighty-five class action cases involving New Jersey and federal consumer protection laws, including the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, the Truth-in-Consumer Contract Warranty and Notice Act, and the Consumer Protection Leasing Act, as well as the federal Truth-in-Lending Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

He has represented clients in class action cases involving fraud and improper sales, leasing and financing practices by automobile dealerships; unfair practices by health clubs in gym membership policies; improper repossession and disposition of motor vehicles; sales, financing, rebate and gift card practices by retailers which violate consumer law; breaches of warranty and wrongful conduct by home contractors; and unlawful collection practices by debt collectors.

Among the notable decisions arising from cases in which Mr. Wolf has represented consumer interests are: Bosland v. Warnock Dodge, Inc.,396 N.J.Super. 267 (App.Div. 2007), affirmed 197 N.J. 543 (2009); Jefferson Loan Co., Inc. v. Sessions, 397 N.J.Super. 520 (2008); Fogel v. Hayt, Hayt & Landau, LLC, 403 N.J.Super. 389 (App.Div. 2008); United Consumer Financial Services Company v. Carbo, 410 N.J.Super. 280 (App.Div. 2009); and the New Jersey Supreme Court’s decision in Shelton v. Restaurant.com (A-123-10) (July 12, 2013).

Mr. Wolf is recognized by his peers as an authority in the area of consumer protection law. He has shared his expertise and experience by teaching consumer protection law to legal services attorneys on behalf of Legal Services of New Jersey in 2002, 2003, and 2007-2014. He was a featured panelist at the 2003 New Jersey State Bar Convention, the 2004 Consumer Law Day, and the 2005 New Jersey Judicial College. Mr. Wolf has been selected as a New Jersey Super Lawyer for 2014 and 2015.

Mr. Wolf taught at numerous continuing legal education programs, including the “Consumer Class Actions & Beyond: Threatened or Alive and Well” ICLE program (April 2011), the “Practical Tips for Litigating Cases Under the Consumer Fraud Act” ICLE program (September 2011 & April 2015), and the “Growing Consumer Actions in New Jersey” ICLE program (2013). He was the moderator and a panelist for the NJICLE Webinar on the “Nuts And Bolts of Filing A Class Action” (October 2013). Mr. Wolf also served as a panelist for the Eric R. Neisser Public Interest Program’s First Monday presentation on “Protecting Workers and Consumers from Corporate Abuse” (October 2014).

Mr. Wolf has been an adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Law – Newark since 2013, where he teaches a course on consumer protection litigation.

He is a 1995 graduate of the Rutgers University School of Law – Newark, where Mr. Wolf was a National Member of Order of the Barristers for High Honors in the Art of Courtroom Advocacy, the winner of the intramural and regional finalist in the 1993 ABA Negotiations Competition, and the winner of the 1994 ABA intramural and regional Client Counseling Competition.

Mr. Wolf brings an extensive experience in the fields of Banking and Investment Banking to his practice of law. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Queen’s College (CUNY) in 1980, where he was a New York State Regents Scholarship recipient, and his Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from St. John’s University in 1987, where he was on the Dean’s List and a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.

Mr. Wolf was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar in 1995, the Federal District Court of New Jersey in 1996, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in 1999 and the United States Supreme Court in 2010.  Mr. Wolf‘s professional affiliations include membership in the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA), and he serves as a Board Member of the Consumers League of New Jersey, a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Committee on Consumer Protection Law, and a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Class Action Committee. Mr. Wolf was first selected by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on the Special Civil Part Practice Committee for the 2006-2008 term, and has since been reappointed for the 2008-2010, 2010-2012, 2012-2014 and 2014-2016 terms.

Mr. Wolf has particular expertise in the area of alternative dispute resolution, both as a mediator and arbitrator. He is certified as a Mediator by the State of New Jersey, Department of Law and Public Safety (1995) and the State of New Jersey Judiciary (1995). Mr. Wolf is also certified as a Trainer in Mediation and Conciliation Skills for the State of New Jersey, Administrative Office of the Courts (1997). Since 2001, he has mediated Chancery Division cases in both the Probate Part and General Equity Part in Middlesex County. Mr. Wolf also mediates cases as a volunteer for the Law Division – Special Civil Part in Middlesex County and as a team leader in the Middlesex County Municipal Mediation Program. In 2000, he was appointed as a Contract Arbitrator in Middlesex County, and in 2006, Mr. Wolf was certified to serve as an arbitrator in Lemon Law cases.

In November 2010, Legal Services of New Jersey honored Mr. Wolf with the Debevoise-Eakeley Award in recognition of his “unparalleled support for Legal Services, most notably through securing many hundreds of thousands of dollars in cy pres awards for Legal Services of New Jersey”  to support its critical work on behalf of New Jersey residents.
