Emily R. Carrara, admitted to practice law in Illinois in 2001, received her law degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois in 2001 with honors.  She is a 1993 graduate of Boston University.  Emily has concentrated in family law and dissolution of marriage cases since beginning the practice of law.  Emily is a member of the American Bar Association, The Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, the Kane County Bar Association, the DuPage County Association of Women Lawyers and the Will County Bar Association. She is a Guardian ad Litem for the Circuit Court of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. 

Since 2003, Emily has taught and been a presenter for numerous family law seminars, including seminars related to disposition of retirement assets in divorce, including Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, division of pension and retirement benefits, and has extensive appellate experience, including oral argument before the Illinois Supreme Court.


Emily concentrates her practice in family law, including dividing retirement plans, dissolution of marriage cases, representation of Children as Guardian ad Litem, family law appeals, and is consulted by both members of the firm and attorneys outside of the firm regarding division of retirement assets and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders
