George R. Ellis is an experienced attorney, mediator and Judge, practicing law for thirty seven years before retiring. Educated at the University of Georgia he received his undergraduate degree and graduated from Law School in 1964.

From his position of solicitor of State Court of Sumter County from 1968 until 1976, George became Judge of State Court in 1976 serving until 1992. In 1985 George was asked to serve as president of the Council of State Court Judges. Locally he represented the Board of Commissioners of Sumter County from 1968 until 2001. During that time he served as secretary and chairman of the County Attorneys Association and Chairman of the Local Government section of the State Bar of Georgia.

While working as an attorney, his practice involved local government, domestic relations, real estate, probate, construction law, warranty claims and general practice.

George is certified with the State of Georgia in general mediation, domestic mediation and domestic violence mediation. He is also a State of Georgia certified arbitrator.

Approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution to mediate general, domestic and domestic violence cases;

Graduated from University Of Georgia School of Law in 1964;Practiced law in Americus, Georgia for thirty-seven years, retired from law practice in 2002;

Main area of law practice: 

Family Law: Representing clients in divorce, and child custody cases;

Probate Court: Representing clients in estate practice, contested will cases; administration of estates, years support cases and guardianship cases;

Real Estate Law: Representing lenders in closing loans, representing clients in title claims and disputes, property line disputes and landlord and tenant cases;

Local Government Law: Represented the Sumter County Board of Commissioners for thirty-two years and represented the Quitman County Board of Commissioners of eleven years;

While representing Sumter County and Quitman County also represented the Sheriffs in civil rights cases in state and federal courts;

While representing Sumter County and Quitman County also represented the tax Assessor in tax appeal cases;

Represented clients in warranty claims, in State and Federal courts, against the major motor vehicle manufactures;

Served as Solicitor of the State Court of Sumter County for eight years;

Served as Judge of the State Court of Sumter County for sixteen years. 

Has the privilege of serving as President of the Council of State Court Judges in the State of Georgia;

Was honored to serve as secretary and chairman of the Local Government section of the State Bar of Georgia;

Was honored to serve as president of the County Attorneys Association of the State of Georgia.
