Deputy Director, Public Affairs, 1980-1988, National Transportation Safety Board (principal spokesman for the NTSB on scene for the investigation of major transportation accidents such as the Air Florida crash into the Potomac; the Delta Airlines windshear accident in Dallas; a fatal crash at Boston's Logan Airport; and the mid-air DC-9 collision over a Los Angeles suburb). Represented the NTSB in connection with its assistance to NASA during the investigation of the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster. Has testified as an expert on the shortcomings in Federal Aviation Administration management of aviation safety before the U.S. Senate Aviation Subcommittee.
