Prior to his entering the legal profession in January of 1997, Robert started and pursued numerous successful  entrepreneurial endeavors, as well as working and performing as a professional musician. Robert’s personality as a proactive self starter, who possesses vast experience in many areas of business enterprise and the arts, as well as his undergraduate education where he majored in psychology and music, provides him with a unique perspective that few attorneys have.  It is this perspective, maturity and world experience, plus his extensive legal expertise, that Robert brings to the clients of The Pollack Law Firm, P.C., and thereby provides the firm’s clients with truly “value added” legal representation in their divorce or family law matters.

In 2007, Robert made law in New York State by succeeding with his unique and successful arguments in the Nassau County case of C.H. v. R.H.  That case brought huge media attention to him and The Pollack Law Firm, P.C., and that case still stands as good law in New York today.

Over the years, The Pollack Law Firm, P.C.’s outcomes have been successful in countless divorce and family law cases of all kinds. Robert is truly proud of the excellent reputation that The Pollack Law Firm, P.C. has gained with clients, colleagues and the Courts over the years.

His vast legal experience, expertise and respected reputation in the field of divorce / matrimonial and family law practice has been recognized by the Unified New York State Court System by Robert’s appointment in 2015 to the “Special Master Matrimonial Meditation Panel” in Nassau County.  This honor provides Robert with the opportunity to assist the Court and other matrimonial attorneys and their clients by working with them to resolve difficult issues, settle complex pending cases and thereby avoid expensive trials.

Due to Robert’s well known reputation for extraordinary legal experience and expertise, client care and concern, as well as his sensitive and insightful representation of clients, the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence has referred their clients to The Pollack Law Firm, P.C. for over ten years.

Robert has written numerous articles published in various magazines on issues of divorce, separation, prenuptial agreements, child support, domestic violence and other matters of  matrimonial and family law. What is divorce mediation?

Divorce mediation is a method of alternate dispute resolution, focused on helping couples avoid court and the burdens attached. With the help of a mediator, a couple can discuss terms of their divorce and, hopefully, come to an agreement in writing. A mediator’s goal is to guide a couple through every significant, unresolved issue. The divorce mediator represents neither party and works to get the couple to agree to a resolution. A mediator is responsible for ensuring that both parties feel comfortable enough to speak freely. Mediation is a series of sessions that center around a mutual goal. The time it takes to resolve these issues depends on the couple. There is no time limit or constraints at all. The couple can take as long as they need. Once the sessions are complete, the mediator will draft a Separation Agreement to be used if the couple wishes to divorce.

Why are people turning to mediation?

Divorce mediation has many potential benefits. Avoiding litigation is in everyone’s best interest. Courts often explore the practicality of alternate dispute resolution before diving into divorce cases. When a couple engages in mediation, they can:

  • Save time and money
  • Are often happier with the results
  • Avoid the emotional toll on themselves
  • Trust in the confidentiality of the process
  • Mitigate the impact of the divorce on the family
  • Retain control over their future
