Matt has lived in Charleston since he was a few months old. He graduated from the College of Charleston in 1994 and the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 1999. Over the course of his career Matt has handled civil litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of practice areas, and he has tried numerous cases to verdict. He became certified as a circuit court mediator in 2008 and regularly serves as a mediator. In addition to his mediation practice, Matt currently handles cases involving insurance defense, personal injury, and business disputes.
 
Matt and his wife, Jen, have two daughters, Caton and Caroline, and live on James Island. When he is not practicing law or serving as a mediator, Matt enjoys outdoor activities, especially surfing, and loves listening to, playing, and performing music.

We have the resources and energy for total engagement through trial and appeal, but understand that economics and policy often necessitate exploration of early and continuing methods of alternative dispute resolution.
